Wesley students drafted into the AFL rises to six
Posted 15 December 2011
Wesley College is delighted to announce that a further four students have been drafted into the AFL via the rookie draft, including:
- Ben Darrou (St Kilda Road campus 2011 Year 12 student) – drafted into the Richmond Football Club
- Sam Frost (St Kilda Road campus 2011 Year 12 student) – drafted into the Greater Western Sydney side
- Hal Hunter (St Kilda Road campus 2011 Year 12 student) – drafted into the Essendon Football Club
- Tom Campbell (St Kilda Road campus 2009 Year 12 student) – drafted into the Western Bulldogs side
Ben, Sam, Hal and Tom join 2011 Year 12 Glen Waverley campus students, Tom Curran and Toby Greene, who were selected in the 2011 AFL National Draft some weeks ago, into the North Melbourne and the new Greater Western Sydney sides respectively.
This milestone produces a new record for the College, never before having had so many as six students recruited into the AFL in one year is a fantastic achievement.
All boys were members of Wesley College’s First XVIII, which has gone from strength to strength, under the guidance of current coach, Peter Curran and formerly Mark Hibbins.
Wesley College wishes all the boys the best of luck as they line up for the 2012 AFL season.
