Governor General visits Yiramalay/Wesley Studio School
Posted 17 August 2011
The Yiramalay/Wesley Studio School was honoured to welcome the Governor-General of Australia, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, for an overnight visit to the school and to spend some time with the students, teachers and families there. This was an occasion to celebrate and remember, as an important event in the growth and development of the Studio School in the Kimberley.
A smoking ceremony was held in honour of Ms Bryce, followed by a presentation about Wesley’s commitment to the Fitzroy Valley community and the ongoing partnership, by the College Principal, Dr Helen Drennen and Bunuba leader, June Oscar. This was followed by a welcome to water ceremony and a wonderful feast of kangaroo tail and damper that was enjoyed by all.
