The Wesley College Foundation

Celebrating 30 years of giving in 2008

Our School - The Best School of All
Wesley College today is the sum total of all that has gone before: it is the product of the visionaries who established Wesley College in 1866, and the successive generations of headmasters and principals, teachers, students, parents and alumni who have nurtured and developed Wesley to become the largest coeducational school in Australia and one of the most highly regarded independent schools in the world.

The Wesley College Foundation was established in 1978 to enlist the interest and financial support of the members of the College community and friends of Wesley to preserve, improve and develop the standards, services and facilities of the College.

The income Wesley College receives from fees and government grants does not cover the ongoing development of the College, and the College of today is the tangible expression of the work of the Foundation and the generous support given by earlier benefactors.

Wesley has always been at the forefront of educational innovation and it is imperative that our facilities and resources are renewed and enhanced to meet the needs of current and future students.

By supporting the Foundation, you are investing in the future, in the education of students of today and tomorrow. As current students are the beneficiaries of past generosity so future generations will depend on the continuing and vital support of current parents, alumni and friends of the College. The Foundation seeks your support and seeks it unashamedly.

Our Vision - Wesley's Strategic Plan 2004-2016
Wesley College has embarked on the most comprehensive capital works program in its history. It involves the investment of very substantial financial resources to improve current facilities and build a range of exciting new learning and social spaces, sport and performing arts facilities.

This vision is already becoming a reality with several major building projects that are directly benefiting both current and future students and staff. Wesley is committed to ensuring that all students are given every chance to develop their interests and talents in both academic and co curricular fields of endeavour. As the Strategic Plan is implemented, and in order for Wesley to remain debt free, the Foundation's role in assisting the College achieve its educational and financial goals is vital.

Our Commitment - From Vision to Reality

The Redevelopment of the Coates Pavilion

The current major building project is the redevelopment of the Coates Pavilion into a stunning, state-of-the art, College facility. This is the first stage of a long term strategy to build new sports facilities.

At the heart of this striking building will be a versatile space with outstanding views over the playing fields, from which parents and visitors can watch sport in comfort. The existing changing rooms will be completely refurbished to provide first-class amenities for Wesley and visiting teams, while the new second level will also incorporate a marvellous precinct for relaxation and social interaction.

Coates Pavilion
Coates Pavilion Redevelopment - Glen Waverley

Costing in the vicinity of $4 million, the Coates Pavilion redevelopment is a key component of our long-term strategy to improve the facilities of Wesley College. And with an eye for the future of the planet as well as the College, we have ensured that the design by Cox Architects is environmentally friendly. Key "green" features include:

· Use of recycled timber
· A broad roof to provide maximum shading
· Natural ventilation chimneys to minimise reliance on air-conditioning, and
· Collection and storage facilities for roof water

With works already under way, the project should be completed by the end of 2008.

Bequests are a particularly effective way of providing benefits for future generations of Collegians and can include cash, a share of an estate, real estate, shares or personal property. For more information please download attached booklet The Sapere Aude Society - your will is our future.
