A Safe and Supportive Boarding School

Outstanding Pastoral Care

A True Education is one that develops the whole person, not just the mind. That’s why we take a holistic approach to supporting and nurturing our students’ wellbeing across emotional, social, physical, psychological and cultural dimensions.

Outstanding pastoral care is Wesley’s hallmark, with multidisciplinary teams including academic supervisors, college nurses, medical practitioners, counsellors, psychologists and allied health services supporting students through daytime learning and life at boarding school.

We make sure that support is close at hand, with a dedicated residential mentor assigned to each house. Living amongst the students, our mentors are able to assist with all aspects of living in residence, as well as monitor social and academic performance and development. Mentors, teachers and tutors communicate regularly so that students always receive the appropriate level of support or academic extension they need to flourish.  The presence of mentors in the residences also ensures a safe and secure environment day and night.

Students are encouraged to help themselves too, through a variety of wellbeing strategies including mindfulness, yoga, technology regulation and quiet time.

Special days are not forgotten either, with celebrations for students’ birthdays including cake, singing and a favourite meal.

Safety and Security

Your child’s safety while resident at Wesley is of utmost importance.

Each student is issued with a personalised electronic swipe card, allowing access to their own residence, as well as common areas.

Security personnel operate onsite 24/7, alongside video surveillance of the grounds. Buildings and gates are locked every night at 10.00pm, and all doors and windows are alarmed.

Health Services

Should a student feel unwell or need to seek medical advice, a Health Centre is located within the Learning in Residence administration building. A registered nurse is on duty Monday – Saturday. Duty staff are trained in first aid, anaphylaxis, asthma and CPR.

College Counsellors are also available to students from Monday – Friday.

Food and Nutrition

We recognise that our students are growing teenagers, and provide them with a variety of fresh and nutritious meals.  An onsite catering team serves breakfast, lunch and dinner each day in the dining room. Students may store their own food and snacks in the small fridge located within each residence, and are encouraged to complement their diet with physical activity.

Nuts, and foods that contain traces of nuts, are not permitted on the grounds.
