Sergeant Geoffrey E Jones (OW1909), a member of the 1st Expeditionary Force, was wounded in the head during the landing on Gallipoli.

After a month's absence, he returned to the peninsula and remained there until the evacuation. He was in France, and was reported missing. After four months the report came to had that he had been killed in action. In a letter to his parents, his captain spoke very highly of him as an officer — always to be depended on in any demand made upon his services.
