Wesley girls crew wins bronze at National Rowing Championships

Posted 9 May 2019 Wesley National Girls Rowing Champions

Congratulations to our Wesley Girls Rowing coxed IV crew, which achieved bronze in the National Rowing Championships.

The nationals saw some great performances from all boats. We split into some smaller boats with our Year 12s along with some younger development boats in the Year 8s as we build towards next season.

The results were:

  • Women's Under 19 VIII - fourth
  • Women's Under 17 VIII - fifth
  • Men's Under 17 VIII - fourth (with 0.5 secs separating second and sixth. The crew defeated Melbourne Grammar School, which recently won Head of the River).
  • Schoolboys coxed IV - 11th (with more than 20 schools in this division)
  • Men's Under 19 VIII - made the A final The highlight of the regatta was the Schoolgirls coxed IV finishing third.

This is the first time Wesley has medalled at the nationals in more than 20 years. We are immensely proud of all rowers’ achievements.
