Ella Newton stars in ABC Newtons Law

Congratulations to Wesley student Ella Newton who has been cast in ABC’s Newton’s Law. Her television co-stars are an outstanding line-up of Australian actors including Claudia Karvan, Toby Schmitz, Brett Tucker and Georgina Naidu. Her role as teenage daughter ‘Lydia Newton-Docker’ has appeared across five episodes in the legal drama.


The opportunity has given Ella the fantastic experience of working in a real life production. She describes a day on set as, “Very long, there’s a lot of waiting around but it’s also so fun, I was lucky because everyone in the cast was so lovely, making the overall process very easy.”

Ella’s interest in drama started at Wesley and her student theatre credentials include: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, God, Oliver, The Crucible, West Side Story and this year’s Senior School play, Richard lll and says “I wouldn’t have known how much I enjoy acting without doing the Wesley productions”.

Ella reflects on her love of acting, “I love seeing what happens behind the scenes. There’s so much that goes into creating a work, seeing it all come together is very interesting. I love creating things so being part of a team to create a production is really fulfilling for me.”

The first season of Newton’s Law is currently screening on ABC and ABC iview.
