English Assessment Test
All students in Years 5 and above who do not have English as their first language are required to sit an English Language Assessment Test provided by the Australian Education Assessment Services (AEAS). The application for admission can only be processed after the results of this test have been forwarded to Wesley College. This test can be completed either in Australia or in the student’s country of origin. The testing agency will forward the student’s test result directly to the College.

Offers of a place at Wesley College will depend on the outcome of the AEAS Test and completion of intensive English language study as recommended by the AEAS test.
English Language Preparation Centre
Wesley College recommends students attend Avalon College to complete their English language studies. Avalon College is the only language centre that focuses on primary and secondary age international students. Specialist language classes are tailored to prepare students for primary and secondary school with 25 hours of teaching and eight hours of supervised homework per week.
Avalon College provides full boarding facilities for students in an all English speaking environment. Specialist boarding house staff care for young students as they adjust to living in a foreign country. There are many opportunities for students to develop a close network of friends, to support them during their transition to Wesley College.
Avalon College also provide organised activities each afternoon, including drama, group skills and introduction to Australian sports. A comprehensive weekend program is also in place for students to experience Australian culture and lifestyle.

At the completion of the intensive English language course a pre enrolment English test and interview with the Head of School at Wesley College will confirm the commencement date of the student.
